Okay, so here is our “Jungle”-themed nursery in progress. You will notice the lack of a second curtain – it is currently on the sewing table awaiting finishing. Also, there is an abundance of stuffed animals on the crib. This is to hide the fact that I am currently washing all of the baby’s new sheets. But, we have the basics…crib, dresser, changing pad (hidden in the closet currently, until we’re done using the top of the dresser as a storage place for the drill…) We also put up a new baby gate at the top of the stairs today. Later, I will try to get some pictures of the bathroom upstairs that I’ve been working on also. Enjoy!

You all know what that means…pictures! Yes, folks, this means I’m finally going to get around to taking and posting some pictures of the nursery in progress and the belly in progress! That’s the task for this weekend =P
Here are some pictures of when Dad came out to visit and we went to the Royals game:

On Monday morning, I had to go into the midwife’s office for another check-up and to do my OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test). Basically, this is when you drink a 10 oz. bottle of “Glucola” (a.k.a. flavored sugar water) then sit around for an hour. Then, they stick you with a needle and draw a vial of blood to test and see how your body is processing sugar to make sure you don’t have Gestational Diabetes. Needless to say, I got a call the next day saying that my results were “abnormal” and that I would need to do the 3-hour test.
So, yesterday (Wednesday), I went in first thing in the morning for my 3-hour OGTT. This one I did at the hospital because it’s closer to my house. Before doing any research, I assumed the 3-hour test just meant that I had to drink the Glucola then come back in 3 hours. Later I found out that it was not that way at all. Because I had to be on an 8 hour fast, I decided to go for the test first thing in the morning. I made it over to the hospital around 9 am. The first thing they did was take a fasting sample (needle hole #1 for the day, #2 if you count Monday’s hole still bruising over on my right arm). Then, I was told I couldn’t leave the building, which was a little out of the question for me at that point any way (no food and all). They took blood samples every hour on the hour for three hours, totalling 5 holes in my arms, counting Monday’s. By the end of the test they were asking me which arm I’d prefer the sample taken from…like I cared at that point.
In any case, the good news is that it was all for nothing. No Gestational Diabetes here – yay!

Today, John and I (and the baby) took a tour of St. Francis Hospital, where we will plan to deliver her. They had very nice delivery/recovery and postpartum rooms. They were very big and had TV’s, radios, couches, and even whirlpool tubs in the delivery/recovery rooms. The postpartum rooms were big and had all the amenities of the delivery rooms, plus a queen-sized bed where John can stay with me overnight. I was a little tentative to deliver at St. Francis because of all the benefits I’d been hearing about Stormont-Vail’s labor and delivery ward, but after visiting I think I feel much better about it. Especially since I’ve had a healthy pregnancy so far, I don’t foresee any reason to believe we’d need to use the NICU at Stormont-Vail. The major complaint I have so far is that if you don’t know where you’re going, it can be a little difficult to find. BUT now that we’ve found it, I will be able to give directions to anyone who wants to visit us. =)
I finished the curtains for the nursery last night, but I feel like they need something more, so I will likely end up working on adding things for them later. I’m excited to get my financial aid because it means we will finally be able to order her some furniture. I’m also trying to decide how elaborate I really want to make her nursery. I’m thinking that adding some fake vines along the ceiling to help incorporate the stuffed monkeys into the motiff won’t be too much. BUT I’m also trying to decide if we want to put a ceiling fan in there so that would probably negate that idea. In any case, it feels good to be done with the tour…one more thing off the checklist!
